USAA - APPRISE BENEFITS COUNSELING
APPRISE is the State health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) for Pennsylvanians age 60 and over created by the Pennsylvania Department of Aging. APPRISE Health Insurance Counselors help older Pennsylvanians understand their health insurance options under Medicare, long term care insurance, Medicaid, and Medicare Managed Care Programs, and other health insurance and public benefit programs.
Our APPRISE staff provides Counseling, Education, and Outreach to meet the needs of Medicare beneficiaries and caregivers in Union and Snyder Counties.
Medicare PART D Enrollment
December 16 - December 17
What you must bring along to your enrollment appointment:
- Medicare Card (red/white/blue card)
- All Insurance Cards
- Current medications list with associated frequency and dosage

APPRISE staff can:
- Help you understand your Medicare benefits and explain which services are covered under Parts A and B of your Medicare Summary Notice.
- Help you make informed choices about Medicare coverage options, including the Medicare Advantage options.
- Help you understand the Medicare appeals process and assist with appeals paperwork
- Help you select a supplemental Medigap insurance policy.
- Describe the financial assistance programs you may be eligible for that will pay your Medicare premiums, deductibles, and co-pays and subsidies that can provide you with your prescriptions.
- Explain the Medicare prescriptions benefit and help you make an informed Part D prescription drug plan choice.
- Make presentations on Medicare to your organization.
APPRISE staff also:
Help you complete a Rent/Property Tax Rebate application.
Help you complete a LIHEAP energy assistance application.
Help you complete a PACE/PACENET prescription assistance application.
